Unlike A-listers who demand a hike in remuneration after a big hit to their credit, Shruti Hassan has done just the opposite.
The stocks of the actress soared after the blockbuster ‘Gabbar Singh’ which raked in more than Rs.1 crore for her.
But she surprised everyone with her gameplan when she was offered to act opposite Ram Charan Teja in ‘Yevadu’.
Producer Dil Raju had signed Samanta to play the romantic interest opposite actor Ram Charan in his action adventure being directed by Vamsi Paidipally, but Samanta backed out due to date problems and Raju was forced to look for an urgent replacement.
Shruti reportedly referred to the revised remuneration of `1 crore but producer Dil Raju was unwilling to pay her that price.
“For nearly two to three weeks, the negotiations continued as both the producer and actress were reluctant to budge from their positions.
With the producer finally putting up an offer of `60 lakh, the actress agreed to the deal — because she could have been even replaced, if she had stuck to her guns. But she stands to gain immensely by working with Ram Charan and Shruti finally agreed for the pay cut,” says a source.
But, a source close the actress scotches these rumours as baseless, “Shruti is not money minded and picks only good roles. The delay was only due to date adjustments and had nothing to do with the payment,” he adds.
