Small time Telugu cine actor Dinesh Madne was apprehended by the city traffic police on Saturday night for alleged drunken driving.
Banjara Hills traffic inspector K. Balakrishna Reddy said, “We were conducting a regular weekend check near MLA Colony as instances of drunken driving are more during weekends.”
Dinesh tested positive in the alcohol meter test, with 34 mg/100 ml blood, when he was driving the car. (Thirty mg/100 ml blood is the permissible limit for drivers on roads, Reddy said.) A case was booked against him and his vehicle confiscated.
Dinesh, who was travelling along with actor Akash, said, “I was returning from a film shoot with Akash. I had some alcohol in the afternoon. I admit my mistake. The police was just doing their duty.”
A native of Maharashtra and settled in Hyderabad, Dinesh has worked in 15 movies in Tollywood, including the comedy, Hyderabadi Nawabs. He is at present working in Aa Iddaru, and Double Trouble, slated for release next month.
The police booked 191 cases of drunken driving on Saturday, the maximum number in Gopalpuram PS limits.
The drivers of 154 two-wheelers, 3 three-wheelers, 33 four-wheelers and one heavy vehicle were booked.and the vehicles were seized.
