Salman Khan’s much awaited Christmas release Dabangg 2 broke box office records as expected on day one of its release. According to noted trade guru Taran Adarsh Dabangg 2 has collected 21.10 crore on Friday (however, BoxOfficeIndia states that it has collected 19.50 crores nett). In both cases it’s a record for the non-holiday day one collection. Dabangg 2 broke the record ofAkshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore (15.1 crores nett) in the non-holiday release category. However, the highest single day record still belongs to Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger (32.92 crores nett). ButEk Tha Tiger had a much lower day 2, 14.55 crore nett.
As expected Dabangg 2 is a huge hit across the single screens in the country. The mass centers have been almost 100% on day one. The multiplex business also was good, but was not as great as single screen business. For a non-holiday release Dabangg 2 has done exceedingly well on day 1. Given the business has been going very strong today as well, Dabangg 2 is expected to bring earth shattering weekend figures. Saturday and Sunday figures should exceed 25 crore, as per early estimates.
